Professional Cupping

This one day course is great not only for those who work in the coffee industry but also the home barista or coffee enthusiast. You will learn how to assess coffee by taste and aroma, sampling coffees of a variety of quality.

What we will cover:

  • The importance of cupping (tasting) coffee, its value and how that is required in the coffee industry
  • Guidelines and procedure for setting up a cupping table, equipment required and how to cup
  • How we taste, how the human body creates a sensory evaluation
  • An introduction into how professional cuppers carry out their work
  • Tasting coffees from a variety of origins, looking at quality levels and defects within the coffee
  • Processing, nuances of origin, roasting profiles and cup characteristics
  • Group participation, review of coffees and their tastes
